Taze Fasulye - Stewed Green Beans with Minced Beef

This Taze Fasulye is a go to mid week dinner for us. It’s so quick and easy to make and super healthy- high in protein and getting your veg in too. It's great to batch cook and have for lunches in the week for something warm, filling and comforting. Like lots of minced beef dishes, this is even better the next day!

We usually serve this with bread but you could also make some Turkish Rice to have with it or add potatoes in (just add a little more water). We love a big dollop of thick and creamy yoghurt and some pickled chillies!

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 400g Minced Beef
  • 1 large onion, roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato purée
  • 1 tbsp Turkish sweet red pepper paste
  • 2 heaped tsp Kofte Dry Rub
  • 1 x 400g can finely chopped tomatoes
  • 400g frozen green beans
  • 600ml vegetable stock

Cooking Instructions

1. Add the olive oil to a large pan on a medium-low heat, and soften the onions in the olive oil for 15mins until caramelised.

2. Add the minced beef to the pan and fry for a further 4-5 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks. Then add the Kofte Dry Rub and mix through followed by the tomato purée and pepper paste, stir well, then add the green beans and stir until coated in the pastes and spices, add the chopped tomatoes and stir.

3. Season with salt and pepper, pour in the stock and bring up to the boil, then turn heat down and simmer with the lid on for 60 mins or until reduced but still saucy. Mix every so often. If you prefer more of a crunch to your green beans then you can cook for less time.

3. Take the pan off the heat and let it sit, with the lid on, for 15 mins before serving. Serve with a big dollop of yoghurt and either crusty bread or Turkish Rice
